johno 2010-03-09 22:45:40 Unfortunately you don't tell us where you are from or how old you are now. These are relevant in trying to answer your question. Yahoo answers has indicated that the question has been asked on the UK site, so I am going to presume you are a UK citizen and, as you are asking about a working holiday visa, that you under 30 years old. As a UK citizen you don't need a visitor's visa to come for a holiday. So the only declaration you will need to make is at immigration in NZ and, as stated in another answer, the question on the landing card, related to character, asks only: 'Have you ever been sentenced to 12 months or more in prison; or been deported or removed from any country?' As long as you can truthfully answer 'no' to this question you should be fine.To obtain a working holiday visa (which you can get on line if you are a UK citizen) you have to answer a more stringent question:'Have you been convicted, charged, or under investigation for any offences against the law in any country?'Clearly, given your previous conviction, you will have to answer yes to this and provide details. A working holiday visa is granted for either 12 or 23 months. Normally, a police report is required only when a visa is requested for permanent residency or for stays of 24 months or more. So, a working holiday visa doesn't usually have to be supported with a police report. However, a yes answer to the above question may trigger a request from NZ immigration to see a police report, before granting the visa. Having said that, the general rule, which you can see from the link given below, is still that, amongst other things, the 12 month imprisonment standard applies. So, it is still possible that your visa will be granted either without further enquiry (i.e. simply based on your online application) or after sighting your police report. You won't know for sure until you have submitted the application for the working visa. But the response time for online applications is pretty good and so you will know quite quickly.

Brunolino 2010-03-09 14:50:17 I believe if you were under 18 your convictions would not appear in the police report. Allow 2 weeks to get the police report in the Uk. They are quite slow. However they have the quicker option but it is twice the normal price total 70 quid. all the best,B

203 2010-03-09 12:24:46 The New Zealand immigration arrivals card asks all entrants if you have ever been sentenced to prison for 12 months or more and that is the only question regards criminal history.Whether a work visa requires more detail or is stricter I don't know. Perhaps you could search google for the application form.
