Question from justme
New Zealand Immigration?
justme
Can anyone help?My Mom has residency and will be sponsoring me via the Adult Child Application Form.I have two (older) brothers and a Dad in England (who I doubt will even come to NZ for a holiday). I have read this page in the Operations Manuel F6 Sibling and adult child policy but get confused with the "they have no other immediate family who are lawfully and permanently in the same country in which the principal applicant is lawfully and permanently"Lawfully I am in New Zealand.Permanently I am in New Zealand.Would there be any problem with me getting residency?

Ramon 2010-03-10 08:44:55 the applicant must have NO parents, no siblings and no adult kids already permanently living in NZ your mom is a PR in NZ, right? So if your mom is applying and she has no siblings, and no parents and no adult kids already living permanently in NZ (you are just visitng for now) then she can apply to sponsor ONE relative - you. If YOU are applying then you dont qualify under this visa as you do have immediate relatives in UK If your mom was applying then you would qualify, as she doesnt have any relatives in NZ. I am not sure who applied.

Ozmaniac 2010-03-10 00:07:16 Simply being in NZ on a tourist visa or some other temporary visa and intending to stay there permanently isn't the same thing as having Permanent Residence - if you already have official Permanent Residence, then you don't need sponsorship under the Adult Child policy. If you need sponsorship, then you couldn't possibly be lawfully and PERMANENTLY in New Zealand. You should be reading the Manual as meaning "you must have no other siblings or parents who are living lawfully and permanently in the country in which you have the right to live permanently". That is almost certainly your country of citizenship (i.e. the UK) unless you have been granted citizenship in another country since leaving the UK. If you only have citizenship in the UK and your siblings and father live there, then you are not eligible for sponsorship under the Adult Child immigration policy. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/live/brothersisteradultchild/canimovetonz/whatisrequired/ Refer to the second point under 'And you must supply' - it phrases the rule in a different way.EDIT:Ramon - read it again! You have everything around the wrong way. The requirement is for there to be no parents or siblings OUTSIDE New Zealand if they live in applicant's home country. They can have as many siblings or parents as they like if they all live in NZ and they can have as many siblings and parents as they like if they all live outside the applicant's country of citizenship.
